Tran Nhat Thang, born in 1972, is one of the pioneer artists of the Vietnam painting in the Post-Innovation stage since the late 1990s. With a brush style of both improvisation and subtlety, Tran Nhat Thang's paintings are a combination between the watercolor painting style and calligraphy of the Eastern tradition and the minimal abstract style of modern painting. He conceived: painting should only express the most inner feelings of the artist, a look inside the artist's soul. Since graduating from the Hanoi Fine Arts University in 1996, he has so far had 10 solo exhibitions and participated in more than 100 group exhibitions in- and outside of Vietnam. His works featured in numerous private and organizational collections in Europe, Asia and America. In addition to painting, Tran Nhat Thang also experiments in the field of performance art and installation. He has Initiated and organized a number of artistic events to commemorate the martyrs at Truong Son cemetery (2012) and for other charity purposes.
