Nguyen Thi Que, born in 1952 in Hanoi, is a painter who mainly works on lacquer and silk materials. Nguyen Thi Que graduated from the Hanoi University of Fine Arts in 1977, specializing in lacquer painting. Her paintings are mostly focus on subjects like: Still life, portraits and mountainous people. Her concept of art is very close to the Italian Pre-Renaissance art with a very sophisticated and meticulous painting style, but also very simple at the same time. Through panting, Nguyen Thi Que has created a new color palette and new techniques which are far beyond the traditional lacquer styles. She is highly respected by both Vietnamese and foreign artists for her figurative language and lacquer techniques.
